Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of therapy do you provide?
I provide individual, couples, and family counseling for adults. I use the following counseling philosophies in my therapeutic work:
Existential: Asking ourselves, What is the purpose of our lives? How are we adding to the world? What meaning are we gaining from our experiences?
Mindfulness: Paying attention to the present moment, our inner and outer experiences, without judgment, to cultivate gratitude and intentionality.
Cognitive: Identifying and changing unhealthy thought patterns.
Solution-focused: Identifying and putting into practice solutions we can do right away to start feeling better.
Strategic family therapy: a pragmatic and strengths-based approach that teaches partners and family members effective communication tools to interrupt negative feedback loops (those “we’re having the same argument over and over” cycles). We learn specific positive interventions to communicate better, resolve issues more quickly and calmly, and find joy in our relationships again.
When do you offer sessions?
I offer virtual counseling sessions Monday through Friday. Please note, I do not offer evening or weekend times.

Good Faith Disclosure
Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Ensure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
What’s it like to work with you?
“Colleen is so easy to work with and she actually LISTENS when you speak. So many people are wrapped up in giving the advice that they just don’t hear what the person is really saying. Colleen helped me thru some very hard times and I truly enjoy talking to her.”
“I had such a hard time understanding what I was feeling and why. Colleen helped introduce a lot of new perspectives and ways for me to think about things. I trust Colleen and she’s never come off as judgmental at all and I feel comfortable sharing with her.”
“…my experience with Colleen has been so constructive. She is patient, listens intently without judgement, knows her craft well, and she observes patterns in my own thinking that I have not noticed, empowering me to change aspects that I want to change.”
“This is my first experience with therapy and I fully expected to be told what to do and how I should be processing or handling things. Instead I’m feeling like a boat in the water, being gently guided and supported on my journey.”

Tell me more about yourself.
I’ve been practicing counseling for over a decade. I’m a wife, mom, and therapist, and I love to watch peak TV, cook for my family, and practice yin yoga. I’m slowly but surely getting better at baking and houseplant/herb gardening. I have several intersectional identities and I’m constantly working to examine my privilege and leverage it to assist others in creating their power.
